as the awareness and
use of bodily sensations in order to:
• Support your overall health and well-being • Lessen
symptoms of stress and stress-aggravated diseases • Signal
information about safety and comfort
• Further psychological and spiritual development over your
lifetime |
Our bodily functions, movements, and perceptions are a
complex “orchestration” of tiny movements muscles, liquids,
tissues, and biochemical processes throughout our bodies. Most of these
occur without conscious mental awareness. We are aware of bodily sensations
that signal biological needs such as hunger, thirst, and fatigue.
Great artists, poets, and scientists often bring conscious
awareness of bodily processes to their creative endeavors. Men and women
yogis, Zen Buddhist Masters, and mystics worldwide are known to bring
conscious awareness of these bodily processes to serve awareness and spiritual
openings. Some of the world’s greatest athletes are highly adept
in body awareness and equate athletic success with “being in the
zone.”
Body Intelligence can be learned. An important aspect of
Body Intelligence is to know your own body’s capacities, challenges,
and potential. The online Body Intelligence Scale (BIS) questionnaire
can help you identify your current level of body awareness. The online
BIS questionnaire is available to Wellknowing Consulting Clients and health-care
researchers and practitioners at set fees.
Wellknowing Consulting Services and Trainings can help
you enhance your body awareness to promote overall sense of well-being,
health, and self-knowledge.
